Home Manicure | My Nail Routine

Hello my lovelies!  Having always been a nail biter, over the years my nails became weak and extremely prone to breakage. Taking into consideration the fact that I also bite the cuticles around my nails, it is safe to say that I never considered my hands to be the most attractive part of me. I decided to change that!

About three weeks ago I went into Boots and I bought everything I would need for an at home manicure. And yes, with having the right tools you are able to achieve professional results without the professional price tag. I have been giving myself a manicure every week for three weeks now, and I can see so much improvement, not only in the strength of my nails but also how nice my cuticles look. Here is what you will need:

IMG_6755

1. Nail files- The brand really does not matter here. Use whatever works for you :). I really like the files that give you the option to buff and polish your nail bed.

2. Sally Hansen Gel Cuticle Remover- Applying this to your cuticles will soften the dead skin and make it easier to remove.

3.( From left to right) Cuticle nippers, cuticle pusher, nail clippers and a cuticle stick.

4. OPI’s Nail Envy- My new holy grail product! Works wonders for weak nails. I have noticed amazing improvements in just three weeks. It also comes with instructions, which makes it very easy to use.

5. OPI’s Avoplex- Cuticle oil. Keeps your cuticles looking healthy and moisturised.

6. Soap and Glory Hand Food- Use a hand cream of your preference. This one smells AMAZING and absorbs into your skin in no time without leaving any greasy residue behind. Did I already say how good it smells?…..

Let’s Begin:

Step One: Clip and file your nails into the shape and length you desire.

Step Two: If you like to buff and polish your nail bed now it’s the time to do it.

Step Three: Apply the cuticle remover gel to your cuticles and wait 10sec.

Step Four: Use the cuticle pusher to push back your cuticles and then proceed to use the cuticle nippers to cut the dead cuticle skin.

Step Five: Wash your hands in order to get rid of any of the cuticle remover residue. This is where I like to apply a little bit of the cuticle oil in order to restore some of the moisture back. I leave it on for about 2 min, then i wash it off.

Step Six: Apply two coats of Nail Envy to your nails and wait till dry.

Step Seven: Finally Apply your favourite hand cream and reapply the cuticle oil again this time massaging it in and leaving it to dry.

I added a before and after shot below to show you the difference a simple, home manicure makes. It takes a little time but it is something I worked into my weekly pamper night routine. Note that if you are looking to paint your nails using a coloured nail varnish, simply replace the Nail Envy with the nail varnish of your choice.

Favourites | Favourite lipsticks of the moment

I have to be honest, I am one of those people who believe that a makeup look is not finished without a lipstick , lipliner or any kind of colour on the lips. I’m not talking about a full on bright pink every time, but merely a ‘my lips, but better’ shade of lipstick. I think even a nude shade of lipliner finishes the makeup look and makes it look so much more put together. I wanted to share my current favourite shade of lipsticks, be it ones I have been using for a wile now and some new discoveries as well. Hope you enjoy:).

fable

1. Illamasqua Lipstick in ‘Fable‘- matt finish, bright rose pink

I purchased this colour a few months ago and I have been wearing it pretty much non stop (as you can probably tell hehe). I honestly can’t tell you enough how amazing Illamasqua lipsticks are! I love the look of a matt lip but also love the fact that I can always change a matt lip into a glossy one by simply adding some gloss on top. The staying power of the Illamasqua lipsticks is great and the pigmentation is honestly the best I have ever tried! All the shades I own are so vibrant! The only con I can think of is that the lipsticks are a little drying but that’s the case with all matt lipsticks. Just make sure you’re lips are nicely moisturised before applying it.

esp

2. Illamasqua Lipstick in ‘ESP‘- matt finish, vivid violet

This is the most beautiful, unique violet i have ever seen. It is a matt finish but there is sooo much dimension to it. It is almost as if it contains little bit of a navy depending which angle you look at it from. Truly beautiful and worth an investment if you are after something that’s one of a kind.

shard

3. Illamasqua Lipstick in ‘Shard‘- matt finish, red violet

My newest purchase from Illamasqua. I’m a little late on this shade but non the less when I opened my package it was like love at first sight. Again, very pigmented and such a beautiful shade of deep, purply red.

posture

4. Illamasqua Lipstick in ‘Posture‘- matt finish, cool mauve

This shade is definitely for the brave. It is another unique one. A very pretty, pale lilac. It isn’t your typical everyday, wearable colour but it definitely stands out. I certainly don’t wear it everyday but I do bust it out from time to time when I’m bored of my everyday look.

delirium

5. Illamasqua Creme Pigment in ‘Delirium‘- matt, rose taupe cream pigment

This is actually a cream pigment meant to be used on your eyes. Illamasqua products are great because they’re so versatile. You can use every product however your heart desires and I just happen to love this product on my lips. It almost gives them a dead kind of look. It sounds really weird but I love this on the days when I’m going for the vampy look and I don’t feel like wearing a dark lip.

creme cup

6. MAC Lipstick in ‘Creme cup‘- cool, dusty, light pink

This is exactly the shade I had in mind when I said ‘my lips, but better’. It is that perfect pink that I just throw on when i’m in a hurry to get out the door. I have a lot of lipsticks and this is the first one I ever repurchased several times. I wear it either on its own or, I like to top it off with BareMinerals Buxom Plumping lipgloss in ‘Debbie’ in order to add a little warmth to it.

rebel

7. MAC Lipstick in ‘Rebel‘- deep fuchsia

This has been my autumn colour. One of my favourite MAC lipsticks and I feel like everyone should own it because it is such a cult classic. It suits a lot of skin tones and i think if you want to try a dark lip for the first time this is the lipstick to buy.

ruby woo

8. MAC Lipstick in ‘Ruby woo‘- matt finish, bright, blue based red

A classic! This is another colour from MAC I feel like everyone should own. It is beautifully matte, and I should also add, it makes you’re teeth look whiter because it is a blue based red. Perfect for achieving that vintage glamour look.

I hope you enjoyed this post and as always, check out the rest of my social media. Until next time.

Review | Sugarpill ‘Burning Heart’ Palette

ImageImageImage

I finally got my hands on this palette. I have been eyeing it up for a very long time now. It is the perfect way to add some bright colours to my kit as I feel like it was definitely lacking them. First, I want to say I got my palette on Amazon.  Amazon happened to have the best price at £26.35 ( If you happen to know of a cheaper place to purchase the palette please share in the comments below).

Ok, onto the palette itself. This palette is one of the three palettes that came out with the Addicted To Pretty eyeshadow collection. Originally I really wanted to purchase the Pro palette which includes all eyeshadows from the three seperate palettes, contained into one bigger palette. It is definitely a lot more convenient, but sadly the Pro palette is only available at make up shows such as IMATS.

The ‘Burning Heart’ palette consists of a fiery red called ‘Love+’, a vibrant orange called ‘Flamepoint’, a true yellow called ‘Buttercupcake’ and the famous purple called ‘Poison Plum’. The colorful eyeshadows come in a cardboard packaging. Despite of it being cardboard the packaging is definitely very sturdy. The front of the palette has a very cool, pretty design on it, very typical of Sugarpill products. At the back of the palette you can find the names of the eyeshadows.

Moving on to the eyeshadows and their pigmentation. As you can tell by the swatches below (although I feel like the colours are even more vivid in real life) the pigmentation of these eyeshadows is truly amazing. They are just as vivid as they seem in the pan and they aren’t very chalky, which is something I really don’t like in eyeshadows.

Image

I am really looking forward to using this palette! It is worth every penny you spend on it. After all it is money invested in good quality, pigmented eyeshadows.

Additionally I thought I would add a kind of pictorial of how I would use the palette. The photos aren’t great quality because of the bad lighting, but I thought that i would post them anyway because you can still get the idea.

Image

1. Apply the red eyeshadow to the inside and the outside of your eyelid, connecting it in the crease, leaving the centre of the lid colour free.

2. Deepen the crease and the inside and outside of your lid with the purple.

3. Proceed by adding the yellow shade to the centre of your lid as well as the inner corner of your eye.

4. Apply the orange shade to the bottom lid and deepen the colour with the purple.

5. Apply eyeliner and some fake lashes and you’re done!

Hope you enjoyed this review and like the look I have created. Make sure you follow me on social media below. Until next time.

Video: Make up Look | How To Wear Bold Brows

The two big trends this Spring season seem to be bold brows and bright lips. I absolutely love both and that is why i decided to create this look. Flawless face and a demure eye leave all the more spotlight for both the lips and the brows. Choosing the right shade of lipstick is key. It should be bright enough to add that ‘pop’ of colour yet not bright enough to take away from the brows. The look is really simple and it will look amazing on anybody:) Enjoy.
