Products Used:

– Velour Lashes in ‘Girl You Crazy’

– Urban Decay Electric Palette

– MAC Cosmetics pressed pigment in ‘Black Grape’

– MAC Cosmetics Gel Liner in ‘Dipdown’

– Illamasqua lipstick in ‘Posture’

– Topshop bronzer in ‘Sandcastle’

– The Balm ‘Betty-Lou Manizer’

It seems I just cannot get away from purple. I tried to go for something quite opposite to what you would consider a fall look here. I ditched the dark lip and instead used a pale lilac. One of my all time favourite lipsticks from Illamasqua.

Home Manicure | My Nail Routine

Hello my lovelies!  Having always been a nail biter, over the years my nails became weak and extremely prone to breakage. Taking into consideration the fact that I also bite the cuticles around my nails, it is safe to say that I never considered my hands to be the most attractive part of me. I decided to change that!

About three weeks ago I went into Boots and I bought everything I would need for an at home manicure. And yes, with having the right tools you are able to achieve professional results without the professional price tag. I have been giving myself a manicure every week for three weeks now, and I can see so much improvement, not only in the strength of my nails but also how nice my cuticles look. Here is what you will need:

IMG_6755

1. Nail files- The brand really does not matter here. Use whatever works for you :). I really like the files that give you the option to buff and polish your nail bed.

2. Sally Hansen Gel Cuticle Remover- Applying this to your cuticles will soften the dead skin and make it easier to remove.

3.( From left to right) Cuticle nippers, cuticle pusher, nail clippers and a cuticle stick.

4. OPI’s Nail Envy- My new holy grail product! Works wonders for weak nails. I have noticed amazing improvements in just three weeks. It also comes with instructions, which makes it very easy to use.

5. OPI’s Avoplex- Cuticle oil. Keeps your cuticles looking healthy and moisturised.

6. Soap and Glory Hand Food- Use a hand cream of your preference. This one smells AMAZING and absorbs into your skin in no time without leaving any greasy residue behind. Did I already say how good it smells?…..

Let’s Begin:

Step One: Clip and file your nails into the shape and length you desire.

Step Two: If you like to buff and polish your nail bed now it’s the time to do it.

Step Three: Apply the cuticle remover gel to your cuticles and wait 10sec.

Step Four: Use the cuticle pusher to push back your cuticles and then proceed to use the cuticle nippers to cut the dead cuticle skin.

Step Five: Wash your hands in order to get rid of any of the cuticle remover residue. This is where I like to apply a little bit of the cuticle oil in order to restore some of the moisture back. I leave it on for about 2 min, then i wash it off.

Step Six: Apply two coats of Nail Envy to your nails and wait till dry.

Step Seven: Finally Apply your favourite hand cream and reapply the cuticle oil again this time massaging it in and leaving it to dry.

I added a before and after shot below to show you the difference a simple, home manicure makes. It takes a little time but it is something I worked into my weekly pamper night routine. Note that if you are looking to paint your nails using a coloured nail varnish, simply replace the Nail Envy with the nail varnish of your choice.
